LITERACY: The ability to read, write, listen, speak, etc. The goal of our literacy program is to use phonemic awareness and whole language to ensure that all students are performing on or above grade level in reading and writing.
STEM: STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines. These disciplines are Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and are taught in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. That being said, STEM integrates the 4 subject areas into cohesive learning paradigm.
FINE/PERFORMING ARTS: Performing is an art form in which artists use their voices, bodies, or innate objects to convey artistic expression just as fine arts is creative, especially visual art, whose products are to be appreciated primarily or solely for their imaginative, aesthetic, or intellectual content. Our program is dedicated to providing an outlet of fine and performing arts education to the children, youth, and young adults of Liberia. The program is designed to educate artists and future artists with practical, hands on experiences.
VOCATIONAL: career readiness program for students who want to pursue alternative education. We offer courses in GED, Computer Science, Early Childhood Education, Fashion Designing, Home Economics, Agriculture, etc.
SPECIAL NEEDS/SPECIAL ED PROGRAM: is a cluster of resources designed and developed to meet the needs of children with certain disabilities and special abilities. Thus, our program provides Student Support Teams (SST) and Individualized Education Programs (IEP) to assist each child who is either disabled or gifted. The goal is to provide individualized instruction for every child that needs it.
COMMUNITY INTERVENTION: are those interventions and programs set up to aid and educate a community. Our program will provide social work, counseling, crisis intervention and prevention.
CHARACTER EDUCATION: is a manner of teaching children in such a way that helps them develop moral, healthy, non-bullying, well-mannered, critical, successful, traditional, good, civic, compliant, and socially accepted individuals. The goal of this type of education is to assist children in becoming moral and valued individuals that can give back to their communities.
IMMUNIZATION(S): Shots or vaccination that aid against illnesses. The goal of our program is to provide the required vaccinations for children.
GED PROGRAM: Our General Education Program provides adults, specifically women, an opportunity to study for and take a test that grants them a high school diploma. In honor of “International Day of the Girl Child,” and its initiatives, once completed, these adults have opportunities to participate in our vocational programs to learn a skill that will sustain them and their families.
PERFORMING ARTS AND STEM AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS: Afford students an opportunity to get homework help from teachers and adults who are experts in various subject areas. The first hour is spent on homework, followed by a snack, then either a performing arts or STEM activity. Students learn to sing, dance, play instruments, acting, film, participate in STEM activities, etc. As an incentive and a means of measuring favorable outcomes in school, students will be allowed to participate in performing arts and STEM only with proof that they are passing in each of their subjects in school.
ACCELERATED LEARNING PROGRAM: Affords inner city “out of school” children between the ages of 8 and 15 to navigate through elementary school within 3 years. The program consists of 3 -Tiers: Tier One is Grades 1st and 2nd combined, Tier Two is Grades 3rd and 4th combined, Tier Three is Grades 5th and 6th combined. Our program also adds a performing arts piece. Thus, in addition to academics, the students will be exposed to the performing arts such as music, dance, drama, film making, etc.
FIELD TRIPS FOR STUDENTS: Students will be afforded an opportunity to participate in numerous field trips around the city as well as the rural areas of Liberia. The purpose is to expose them to the beauty of their home country and all that Liberia has to offer. The goal is one field trip every other month..
